Jan. 30, 2025 – Philosophy for Lunch – “What Is Philosophy?”
Description: You might be surprised to learn that it is difficult to say precisely what philosophy is. Part of the problem is that philosophy itself has evolved. Another difficulty is that there are different ways of doing philosophy, different movements and traditions. Great philosophers have occasionally paused their own work, and have weighed-in on this general question. Our first P4L on this question was in 2020. At this third P4L on the question, we will consider the philosopher Isaiah Berlin’s fascinating insights into what philosophy is. (Image: Isaiah Berlin by Ferguson)
