Montclair State University’s online Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program has been ranked #21 in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report 2018 Best Online Graduate Education Programs survey.
The University tied for #21 – a significant increase from the U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 ranking that tied it at #47. Released on January 9, 2018, the new ranking confirms Montclair State’s growing national and state reputation as a research doctoral university.
“Our College is a national leader in preparing educators and other professionals in rigorous and innovative programs,” says College of Education and Human Services Dean Tamara Lucas. “Our online Educational Leadership program is a prime example of our commitment to offering outstanding academic programs that are responsive to the needs of our students and our other constituents. The program’s ranking is a testament to the vision and expertise of the program’s leadership and faculty.”
In arriving at its rankings, U.S. News & World Report considers five general categories, including student engagement; student services and technology; admissions selectivity; faculty credentials and training; and peer reputation.
“Quality content, delivery and service are an integral part of the fabric of our team at Montclair State University Online,” explains Executive Director for Online and Extended Learning Peter McAliney. “Best practices and incorporating student feedback into our operations are important to our continuous improvement. We are committed to providing top-quality online education, and are happy that our efforts are recognized by both our students and outside organizations that acknowledge what it takes to deliver a quality online program.”
Taught by an accomplished and highly regarded faculty, Montclair State’s comprehensive online Educational Leadership program combines theory and practice to give students the preparation they need to become effective school leaders. The program’s flexible design lets students choose study options that best meet their career goals and schedules. In addition, according to McAliney, with its dedicated resources for course design, the program captures the best practices in online pedagogy.
In addition to the online MA in Educational Leadership, the University offers an online MBA degree program, online master’s degree programs in Information Technology, Sustainability Science and Child Advocacy and Policy, and a low-residency MFA program in Dance. Students may also earn a Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education online, and new online certificate programs in Appreciative Inquiry/Philosophy for Children and Educational Assessment will be rolled out this spring and summer.
