Montclair State Offers Online Gifted and Talented Education Certificate

Supporting the needs of gifted educators, administrators, students, and parents

Posted in: Montclair Online

During the course, Curriculum and Methods of Gifted and Talented Education, online certificate students will apply concepts related to gifted and talented education within an authentic learning environment by virtually interacting with senior educators and staff members at Montclair State University’s K-12 Gifted and Talented Program.

The Online Graduate Certificate in Gifted and Talented Education provides the professional preparation and strategies necessary to design, teach and evaluate gifted and talented programs. The courses focus on working with students who demonstrate exceptional performance in intellectual, creative or artistic areas as well as students who may benefit from specialized instruction and activities. The certificate program will also help students develop expertise in planning, developing, administering, and evaluating the efficacy and impact of gifted and talented programs in schools, cultural institutions, and community settings.

“The program emphasizes research-based practices, diversity, differentiation, advocacy, and the role of gifted and talented education within entire school systems,” explains Educational Foundations Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator, Pablo Tinio.  “The program is designed to benefit teachers, administrators, and parents of gifted and talented children.”

This fully online 9-credit program consists of three courses and is designed for those new to gifted and talented education and experienced educators. Each 8-week course may be taken in any order, giving you flexibility in scheduling your coursework. The curriculum and teaching strategies support the educational, social and emotional needs of gifted learners and are applicable to students at all academic standings.
