Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Certificate Program (AND Certificate)

Overview

The Department of Nutrition and Food Studies offers the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Certificate Program which is approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). It involves completion of the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), which prepares students for careers in nutrition and dietetics. Upon completion of the certificate program, students will receive the ACEND Verification Statement that allows them to apply for Dietetic Internships. Students in the AND Certificate Program may be enrolled in the Master’s in Nutrition and Food Science Program simultaneously.

Individuals with a Bachelor of Arts or Science in any field may apply directly into the AND Certificate Program.  Prospective students submit their applications to the Graduate School. There are no prerequisites for this program regardless of a student’s previous field of study.  Materials needed for application: Transcripts from every college and university attended; Letter of recommendation; Personal statement. A minimum 3.2 overall GPA is required for applications. GRE is not required for the certificate program. Once enrolled in the AND Certificate Program, students must maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA and must complete each course in DPD with a grade of “C” or above to receive the Verification Statement.
