College of Humanities and Social Sciences Holds Convocation Ceremony

Montclair State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences held its Convocation ceremony on Monday, May 19 at the University’s Sprague Field. In attendance were family, friends and guests of many of the 1,287 candidates who are to receive baccalaureate degrees from the College.

Governor’s Higher Education Council member, Patricia Nachtigal, Esq. ’68, delivered the keynote address and was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award by the College.

President Susan A. Cole offered words of greeting and College of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Marietta Morrissey presided over the ceremony and made closing remarks. Also speaking were students Ian Callahan, who delivered the senior address, and Tonianne Dougherty, who received the outstanding Academic Achievement and Service Award.

The candidates’ degrees will be conferred at the 2014 Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 23 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
