Thinking of touring Montclair State University? Visiting campus is the best way to discover if it feels like home. Our Admissions team says stepping onto campus gives you a real sense of what it’s like to be a Red Hawk. Here’s how to make the most of your visit.

1. Experience the Community First-Hand

While virtual tours and brochures offer a glimpse, nothing compares to the energy of Montclair’s campus.

Visiting the campus is the best way to see if you can picture yourself here,” says Jordanna Maziarz, Director of Undergraduate Admissions. “You’ll feel the vibe and understand the community better.”

2. Find the Perfect Visit Option for You

  • Campus Tours: For a more personal and flexible experience, join a weekday or select Saturday tour led by a student ambassador. Explore the grounds, key facilities, and ask questions directly.
  • Open Houses: These events are the most comprehensive, with opportunities to meet faculty, current students, and staff from every department. Get answers to all your questions about academics, housing, financial aid, and student life.
  • Special Events: Montclair offers themed days like Pride Days, Women in STEM, and academic exploration events. These experiences are tailored to specific interests, so check the calendar for a day that aligns with your goals.

3. Enjoy Campus Traditions and Views

Capture memorable moments at popular spots like the Red Hawk statue by Cole Hall, which students touch for luck, and painted rocks that showcase student organization artwork. Marvel at the NYC skyline from campus, stop by Starbucks near the library, or try Sam’s Place, the campus dining hub.

Accepted Student Day: A Must for Admitted Students

If you’re admitted, make plans to attend Montclair’s Accepted Student Days on April 6, 2025 or April 13, 2025.  It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet future classmates, engage with professors, grab Montclair gear, and confirm that Montclair State University is the right choice.
