2024 College Rankings: Montclair Rises in Washington Monthly College Guide

Montclair State University has been ranked among the best national universities in the country in Washington Monthly Magazine’s 2024 College Guide and Rankings, released August 26.

The rankings are based in equal part on three factors: social mobility, research and public service.

Highlights from the 2024 Washington Monthly College Guide and Rankings

Montclair is ranked:

• No. 57 in the nation – up from No. 81 in 2023, the latest sign of the University’s increasing national reputation as a comprehensive public research university
• No. 2 in New Jersey and the top public university in the state
• Ahead of institutions including Rutgers University-New Brunswick (No. 62), NYU (No. 64) and Ohio State University (No. 92)
