Montclair State University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Junius Gonzales, MD, MBA, has been appointed as a member of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Special Medical Advisory Group. Gonzales is one of just 22 people to be named to the committee, in a term set to run three years. The group will be focused on the evolution of the Department’s health care system, responding to changes in the health care marketplace as the Veterans’ Health Association (VHA) implements the largest transformation in the Department’s history. The group reports directly to the Under Secretary for Health, primarily providing guidance on the care and treatment of disabled veterans, including the education and training of health care professionals, research and the Department of Veterans Affairs’ role in the support of Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security missions.
