Donna McMonagle will become the University’s Vice President for Finance and Treasurer on June 1, 2020.

McMonagle has served as the University’s Assistant Treasurer, joining Montclair State in January 2018 after extensive experience in the private sector in capital finance and treasury. Among her many accomplishments were working closely with the Board of Trustees and the campus community on the development of a socially responsible investing policy and playing a key role in the acquisition of the ice arena.

“It has been my pleasure to be part of the finance division at Montclair State over the last two and half years, working on complex and engaging projects and collaborating across divisions as we continue to move forward together,” McMonagle said.

“Donna McMonagle is highly qualified for this role,” said Montclair State University President Susan A. Cole. “She has significant expertise in credit and liquidity management, and she is highly analytical, a good problem solver, and an excellent communicator. I am confident she will excel as Vice President.”

Prior to joining Montclair State, she spent three and half years at NRG Energy, Inc., a diversified merchant energy company in Princeton, New Jersey. She has also worked for 13 years at Fitch Ratings, an international bond rating agency. Prior to that, she had various positions in banking. She earned her BA in History from the University of Scranton.

McMonagle will succeed Jon Rosenhein, who is retiring on May 30 after serving the University for the last four years.

“I am honored to take on this important role, leading a team of professionals who are committed to meeting the challenges and opportunities ahead as we support the University’s mission,” McMonagle said.

In her new role, McMonagle will oversee the University’s Division of Finance and Treasury, which provides stewardship over the institution’s financial resources and assures compliance with internal policies and procedures and external regulations and requirements. The Division includes the offices of University Controller, Construction Code Official, Procurement, Real Estate, Risk Management, Student Accounts and Treasury.
