Past Events:

Saturday, March 8, 2025 – Barrier Breakers of the Female Kind:  A Path through Baseball History

The path through baseball history is not filled exclusively with the footsteps of male achievement.  In her presentation, Barrier Breakers of the Female Kind:  A Path through Baseball History, Donna Muscarella explores how women left their mark all along the way, including in the lane that runs right through the Negro Leagues.

Muscarella is a fourth-generation baseball enthusiast, photographer, and mixed-media artist.  She attended her first professional baseball game at Age 2½ but was enthralled by the game even earlier.  While Donna does not limit her photography to baseball, it is her most compelling subject.  She has a passion for capturing its sights and shapes with her camera lens, using art to share her love of baseball with the world.  Muscarella is equally passionate about celebrating all aspects of the game and does so while serving as president of the Elysian Fields Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR).

Appel is frequently featured on YES Network “Yankeeographies,” and is generally considered the leading historian of the Yankees.
