Offering 9 languages related to dozens of nations around the globe, and featuring curriculum that emphasizes cultural awareness and social justice from the first day of language learning, this department has become far more than a Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. We have therefore been re-named!

The Department of World Languages and Cultures fosters linguistically and culturally immersive exploration, training students to be highly qualified translators, teachers, diplomats, advocates, and globally-minded citizens able to experience and negotiate the diverse perspectives so essential in society today.
