Mathematics department well represented at Sigma Xi research symposium
On Saturday April 23 students from throughout the College of Science and Mathematics came together to share their research

Our students took part in both poster and oral presentations throughout the morning’s sessions.

- Students from our MA in Middle School Mathematics program, Jennifer Smith and Maribel Batista stand with professor Eileen Fernández. Jennifer and Maribel presented work from a final project in Professor Fernández’s Fall 2020 class on Measurement in Middle Schools. They explored how to measure math anxiety and made a poster on The Effects of Time Assessments on Students in Mathematics Classrooms.
- Alfred Limbere, a student in the mathematics education doctoral program who is studying with Professor Steven Greenstein, made a presentation on his dissertation study entitled, Using Teacher Noticing and Video-Mediated Professional Learning to Develop Preservice Teachers’ Knowledge for Teaching the Derivative.
- Ella Oren-Dahan, one of our mathematics majors, presented on research with her mentor Professor Deepak Bal on Multicolored Bipartite Ramsey Numbers of Double Stars.
