Posted in: Students and Alumni
Congratulations to Maribel Batista, a master’s student in the Teaching Middle Grades Mathematics program, on being awarded the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Mathematics Education Trust Mathematics Graduate Coursework Scholarship for Teachers (6-8). The purpose of this grant, as described on the application, is to provide financial support for improving teachers’ understanding of mathematics by completing graduate course work in mathematics or mathematics education.
Maribel is a 6th grade bilingual mathematics teacher in the Perth Amboy School District. The funds are being used to pay for two graduate courses in the MA program. Maribel wrote the proposal as part of a grant proposal assignment for MATH 611, Leadership in Mathematics Education, in Fall 2021.
