Enrollment Hits Record High
Montclair State started the school year with a record-high enrollment of 20,022 students. The total enrollment figure includes 15,885 undergraduate and 4,137 graduate students and reflects a six percent increase in both Hispanic and African American students.
"Our students this year have come from every county in New Jersey, from 16 states and from many foreign countries," says President Susan A. Cole. "We are proud to have attracted such a very strong, highly diverse and talented class of students this year."
As New Jersey's second largest university, the enrollment increase comes at a time of steady growth for the University. Current students will be among the first to learn in the University's new state-of-theart Center for Environmental and Life Sciences and the new 143-000-square-foot School of Business building, both of which are slated to open in September.
This year's incoming freshmen were the last students required to submit SAT or ACT test scores as Montclair State this fall joined more than 800 of the nation's leading colleges and universities in adopting test-optional admission policies.
"The new admissions protocol will better support our mission of serving a talented student population that reflects the full socioeconomic and ethnic diversity of New Jersey," Cole says.
