Expressing Thanks Through Music
The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) and MSU Singers debuted Gratias Tibi, by José Luis Domínguez, one of the first-ever works commissioned specifically for physically distanced choir and orchestra performance in June.
Gratias Tibi, which means “thanks to you” in Latin, offers a message of thanks to all front-line workers who have responded to the COVID-19 global pandemic with bravery and compassion.
“It really impacted the audience,” says MSU Singer Mackenzie Conaway. “It gave them a moment to reflect to be thankful for what they have and for the front-line workers. My mom works in health care, and this is a really great way to thank her as well.”
