Annual Scholarship Dinner Breaks Fundraising Record
In March, the Montclair State University Foundation hosted its Annual Scholarship Dinner, which honored Ralph LaRossa, the president and COO of PSE&G, and raised a record-breaking $500,000 for student scholarships.
President Susan A. Cole presented LaRossa with the University’s Carpe Diem Award in recognition of his tireless work on behalf of Montclair State and its students. “Throughout his tenure on the Board of Trustees and as its chairman, he has been a committed advocate for Montclair State’s mission to provide our determined students with affordable access to an exceptional education,” she remarked at the dinner event, which included spectacular numbers from the widely acclaimed student production, 42nd Street.
Last year, through the support of donations from the Annual Scholarship Dinner and other sources, the University provided more than 1,800 students with the financial assistance they needed to pursue or complete their studies.
“Thanks to the efforts of the Montclair State University Foundation and the event’s co-chairs and committee members, the evening was a smashing success,” said Cole. “The contributions will allow us to continue to provide the opportunity of a Montclair State education to young people with the will to succeed as students today – and as leaders tomorrow.”
The 2015 scholarship dinner will be held on Saturday, March 7.
