Studying the Entrepreneurial Mindset
This semester, students taking MGMT 492-10 – “The Entrepreneurial Mindset and Innovation” – are discovering that an entrepreneurial outlook fuels success in any field. The first of three innovative new courses leading to a new Certificate in Entrepreneurship, the course is open to students pursuing a variety of majors.
“We are excited to launch our first class,” says Dennis Bone, director of the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship. “Students who dream of starting a business, as well as those who just want to think like an entrepreneur, are benefiting from it.”
Student teams develop market-based solutions to real-life problems. “Expert mentors and visiting entrepreneurs make this a hands-on, interactive course,” says Bone. They are just part of the center’s community of entrepreneurs, funders, faculty and students, as well as the attorneys, accountants, designers, software programmers and others who support entrepreneurial success.
Montclair State alumni are also members of this entrepreneurial ecosystem. “We are thrilled to have the support of our alumni – and their input as mentors and speakers,” says Sharon Waters, the center’s program manager. “After all, who understands our students better than alums who have sat in the same classrooms?”
