Pitcher of the Year

It’s an honor for a softball pitcher to be recognized even once as an NJAC Pitcher of the Week – much less earning that honor six times in a single season. Yet senior Alex Hill accomplished just that this past spring, culminating with winning NJAC Pitcher of the Year for the third time in as many years.

“It was great to be recognized at all,” says the psychology and social studies education major. “Throughout the season, I try not to pay attention to any accolades, and just try to focus on each game day to day. So at the end of the season, it’s really a surprise to know that I was recognized six times!”

In a record-breaking season, the Red Hawks claimed their fourth conference title in program history. During the conference playoffs, Hill allowed only seven earned runs in 28 combined innings, striking out 37 batters while walking just three. “I’m proud to have made it back to the NCAA National Championship. Last season was one of the best experiences of my life and working hard to return this season was incredibly rewarding.”

Hill led the nation in wins, strikeouts and shutouts and she credits her team with her success. “This season, we had a record-breaking winning streak and I’m proud of what we accomplished as a team.”
