Montclair State Junior named Lacrosse All-American

‌For junior Tierney Conlon, being named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association Division III All-America Third Team was a dream come true. “Becoming a National All-American is my greatest accomplishment in my lacrosse career to date,” says the physical education major from Caldwell, N.J.

During the 2013 season, the Red Hawk scored seven or more points 11 times, including three games with 10 or more points. She not only set the University’s single-season record for points scored (133) and assists (79), but also finished second in the nation in both categories. “It felt great to be ranked so high,” says Conlon, who began playing lacrosse in third grade with her parents coaching.

While Conlon started in all 20 games of the season, the game against Trinity College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament stands out. “Even though we lost, that game proved we could compete with the top Division III team,” the Skyline Conference Player of the Year recalls. “I was so proud of our team for putting up eight goals against the defending national champions.”
