Montclair State University offers two paths to studying English as a second language (ESL). One path is for students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees. Our for-credit ESL classes are designed to improve students’ academic English language skills needed for college-level coursework. These classes are only available to degree-seeking students. The second path to studying ESL is for members of the surrounding community. These community-based ESL courses are designed to teach skills in practical English for use in daily activities. All of Montclair State’s ESL classes are taught by well-trained, caring professionals.
