Gender, Art and Memory: A Roundtable Discussion

Posted in: Homepage Features

roundtable presenters

Sprague Library is hosting a roundtable discussion, presented by RiGS*, that addresses important conceptual and empirical questions of dealing with the past such as:

  • to what extent have gendered norms affected practices to advocate for accountability and justice
  • what role do the arts play in the aftermath of conflict, political violence, and human rights violations
  • how have marginalized victim groups strengthened their voices against official state-centric narratives rooted in memory politics

Join us as faculty from CHSS, Justice Studies, Religion, English and History discuss these important questions. And check out this recent publication, New Critical Spaces in Transitional Justice, edited by one of the panelists — Professor Kurze.

The discussion is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd from 11:30 am — 12:45 pm in the Silent Study Room on the 1st Floor of the Library.

*RiGs is a Montclair faculty collaboration titled Research on Interdisciplinary & Global Studies.
