A New Interface to Find Articles & More
Posted in: Homepage Features
On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, visitors to the Montclair State University Libraries home page will experience a new and improved user interface when performing a Find Articles & More search. This search utilizes EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) which searches across most of our database content. The vendor is introducing an interface that has been redesigned based on customer feedback, usage data, user research, and usability studies. The interface will offer users new, intuitive ways to refine, navigate, like and share search results. It will be more user-friendly and will help patrons find articles and other resources more quickly and easily.
New Features
The new EDS user interface includes a personalized dashboard and these new features:
- Durable, shareable URL: Users will be able to copy and paste the URL at the top of each page to share with collaborators. There also remains a separate permalink.
- Enhanced Search Capabilities: The new EDS offers more precise search results with advanced filtering options.
- Retained Filters: It will be possible to retain filters between searches during a session.
- Personalized Recommendations: Suggestions tailored to users’ interests and research history.
- Projects: Folders will be called Projects.
- Text-to-Speech: Text-to-speech capabilities.
- Concept Map: A visual representation of related subjects and concepts for users to further explore research areas of interest.
- Modern Design: A clean and intuitive interface that makes navigation a breeze.
- Mobile-Friendly: Access EDS on a phone or tablet with ease.
