Welcome to our resource pages for transgender, gender nonconforming and gender questioning students, faculty and staff at Montclair State University. For the past few years, Montclair State administrators have been working carefully to improve the services and support for our trans population and streamline processes to make the experience of transitioning at Montclair State as obstacle-free and seamless as possible. While there is still a long way to go to improve our services, resources, and campus climate for trans members of our community, we have made great strides in a short period of time and are looking forward to providing even more improvements in the weeks and semesters ahead.
Montclair State has a dynamic trans community and there are many ways to connect, including residing in our LGBTQ+ Residential Community, Stonewall Suites, and joining our weekly meet-up group Transcending Boundaries, hosted by the LGBTQ Center. Other ways to connect include academic programs like the Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies major and minor, and the LGBTQ minor. Lastly, – come visit the Office for Social Justice and Diversity Student Center Annex Room 113. We’re a friendly, safe space with tons of resources, games and friendly folks.
Additional resources and information on things like gender inclusive restrooms, name change policies, student healthcare information and so forth can be found in the left-hand navigation.
If you encounter any issues or roadblocks on campus, please reach out to the staff in the LGBTQ Center at lgbtq@montclair.edu or 973-655-7916, or stop by and see us in Student Center, Room 113B.
