A Double Bass Master Class will be held at Montclair State University’s Cali School of Music
on Thursday, September 30, 2010, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The
Master Class is free and open to the public, and will feature Jurek Dybal,
double bassist from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, as guest clinician.
Jurek Dybal was born in Poland and graduated with distinction from the
Chopin Academy. He performed with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra,
the Varsovia Symphony Orchestra, and the Munich Philharmonic before

Orchestra in 2006.
The Master Class will take place in the Leshowitz Recital Hall of the Cali
School of Music. The Cali School of Music is located in Chapin Hall, which
is on the Right just inside the main entrance to campus on Normal
Avenue, a few hundred yards from the corner of Normal Avenue & Valley
Road. After turning into the main entrance off Normal Avenue, (you will pass
Chapin Hall on your Right), continue driving straight and park in the Red Hawk
Parking Deck, then walk back one block to the Cali School of Music in Chapin
Hall. The Leshowitz Recital Hall is just inside of the front door of Chapin Hall
before the elevator.
Performers will be Cali School double bassists Christopher Spendley, Rachel
Hershy, and David Kingsnorth, who will play selections from Dittersdorf,
Bottesini, and Bach.
