Montclair State University Wind Symphony to Appear at National Conference
Posted in: Cali News
The Montclair State University Wind Symphony—comprised of the best wind players and percussionists in the Cali School—has been invited to perform at the College Band Directors National Association 2019 National Conference at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. This prestigious invitation is a first for the university and its school of music. “When I first arrived at Montclair State, one of my long-term goals,” stated Dr. Thomas McCauley, Director of Bands and conductor of the group, “was to appear at a CBDNA National Conference. We are honored and thrilled that we will now achieve this goal.”
Since 2006, also by way of invitation, the Montclair State University Wind Symphony has appeared at the New Jersey Music Educators Association Conference, 2012 CBDNA Eastern Division Conference, the National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Conference, and the 2015 and 2012 Northeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference. However, to appear at the CBDNA 2019 National Conference is different. This will be the first time an ensemble from the Cali School has appeared in concert before a nation-wide audience of esteemed college band directors, music educators, and administrators. This is an exciting time for the school. Dr. McCauley looks forward to raising awareness on a national scale about the truly wonderful things happening at the University.
The Montclair State University Wind Symphony performance at the College Band Directors National Association 2019 National Conference is currently scheduled for Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. (MST).
