The Preparatory Center for the Arts had an active and rewarding summer with the successful start-up and operation of the inaugural year of the Summer Harp Camp under the artistic direction of Loretta O’Driscoll. The week long day camp was held on campus in the Cali School’s Chapin Hall from July 8 – 12. On the final day of camp students participated in a field trip and visited the Stokes Forest Music Camp.

Summer 2013 marked the 21st year of operation for the Stokes Forest Music Camp. The camp was again held at the New Jersey School of Conservation, July 7 – 20. Lou Kosma, bassist from the Metropolitan Opera orchestra and Mostly Mozart Festival, returned for his eighth season as Artistic Director.  Highlights from this year’s camp include a performance/presentation by prominent jazz vibraphonist and Montclair State Alum, Bill Ware, ’82 and a visit by Metropolitan Opera tenor Adam Laurence Herskowitz performing “Nessun Dorma” from Puccini’s Turandot with the camp’s orchestra!
