What is Khanmigo?
Khanmigo is an artificial intelligence tool developed by Khan Academy to support personalized learning and teaching. U.S. educators using Canvas now have access to Khanmigo Teacher Tools for free as part of their Canvas subscription.
With Khanmigo, Higher Ed educators can leverage Khanmigo for many common tasks, including :
- Discussion Prompts: Craft engaging prompts to stimulate meaningful discussions.
- Rubric Generator: Design clear, detailed grading rubrics to set expectations and simplify scoring.
- Make it Relevant: Link lesson content to students’ lives and interests to boost engagement.
- Exit Ticket: Create quick end-of-class activities to check for student understanding.

Activating Your Khanmigo Account
Khanmigo is available to use in every Canvas course. You can activate Khanmigo by going to the Settings of your course and the Navigation tab. From there you can Select “Enable” or click and drag the “Khanmigo Teacher Tools” element up to the active menu items section at the top of the page. Click “Save” at the bottom go of the page to secure the changes to the Canvas course menu.
Khanmigo Teacher Tools will now appear on your left hand course menu. To activate your account, click on the link to open the Khanmigo Tools and then the blue “Sign up for FREE” button.
