Instructional Technology and Design Services (ITDS) and the Summer Session Office invite you to participate in a half-day, online faculty development event to help you get ready for the summer semester. Both new and experienced faculty are encouraged to attend to learn about important changes and modifications to Canvas, as well as other new instructional technologies to promote student engagement, innovative teaching practices, and more!

Strategies and Best Practices for Teaching in an Accelerated Format:
Adapting your course to an accelerated format requires special attention to pacing, workload, and other considerations to facilitate student success in just a few weeks. Join us for an overview of strategies and engagement techniques to consider, with practical advice from experienced Summer Faculty Fanny Lauby, Associate Professor of Political Science and Law and Mary English, Chairperson, Classics and General Humanities, College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Course Design Practices: 
The iterative process of course design relies on the growth and development of faculty’s comfort with technology and utilization of sound pedagogical strategies. In this session, Instructional Designers Keith Adams and Jean Moreno-Lassalle share the course design process promoted by the Instructional Technology and Design Services group to enhance the teaching and learning experience for faculty and students alike

Your AI Toolbox: Strategies & Best Practices for Teaching: 
AI is transforming education, and this session will help you keep up with essential tools and strategies. We’ll explore and compare popular AI tools, a framework to enhance AI literacy, methods to apply AI in the classroom, and strategies to prevent AI misuse in your courses. Walk away with valuable resources, best practices, and fresh insights to enhance your AI toolbox.

Maximizing Student Engagement in Summer Courses with Instructional Technologies: 
Concerned about keeping students engaged in an accelerated semester? Learn how you can utilize several instructional technologies (Lucid, Padlet, Hypothesis, and Poll Everywhere) to enrich your course activities, foster student collaboration, and allow for multiple methods of contribution and expression.

Enhancing Learning with Authentic Assessments in Canvas:
Join us as we explore the benefits of authentic assessments and how they can enhance student learning and engagement. We’ll discuss how these assessments promote critical thinking, real-world application, and deeper understanding. You’ll also discover the variety of assessment tools available in Canvas, including Discussions, Assignments, Quizzes, and Rubrics.
