Summer 2024 Teaching
As you prepare for the coming semester, take note of our Summer support resources, tips for setting up your Canvas course, and some steps for success in your courses.
Key Dates for Upcoming Term(s)
- First Day of Summer Classes: Monday, May 13th, 2024
Summer courses are offered in several sessions ranging from 4 to 16 weeks.
Consult the Summer Session website for more details. - Last Day of Summer Classes: Sunday, September 1st, 2024.
- Summer Canvas courses will be automatically published 3 business days before the start date.
- Review the Academic Calendar for all session dates.
Please note that online programs may follow different dates.
Faculty Development Opportunities
- Educational Technology Expo: Wednesday, April 17th, 10:00am – 12:00pm, In person
- Preparing for Summer 2024: Tuesday, April 30th from 9:00am-12:00 pm, Online
- 2024 Summer Institute for Teaching, Learning and Technology:
Tuesday, June 4th (in person) and Wednesday, June 5th (online)
Canvas Updates
- New Quizzes is the updated quiz tool available in Canvas and has been enabled in all Summer courses starting May 8. New Quizzes allows for new question types, additional quiz settings, and enhanced student performance analytics. When creating a new quiz you will have the option to create a New Quiz or the traditional Classic Quiz. We highly encourage you to explore New Quizzes as this will eventually replace Classic Quizzes. One-on-One Consultations with ITDS
The ITDS team is available for teaching support to help you prepare for the upcoming semester. Select a topic and time and you will be paired with an ITDS team member for one-on-one support via Zoom.
