106 high school students from American History High in Newark, Noble Leadership Academy in Passaic, and Morris Hills High in Rockaway, New Jersey, plus 25 teachers from 10 schools across the state attended a half-day conference Friday, March 30, 2012, hosted by the Institute for the Humanities at Montclair State.

The theme of this year’s World Cultures Day — an annual event in the Institute for the Humanities calendar — was “‘It’s A Small World: ‘ The Impact of Global Communication on the 21st Century.”  Six faculty members from six different departments on campus provided a program with a wide array of intriguing angles on and different approaches to this topic: Todd Kelshaw (Communication Studies), Sangeeta Parashar (Sociology), Marc Rosenweig (Broadcasting), Gabriel Rubin (Justice Studies), Tony Spanakos (Political Science & Law), and Neeraj Vedwan (Anthropology).
