- Submission of Vaccination Verifications:
All immunization documentation is submitted through the My Health Portal. You must first register with the portal in order to submit documentation (instructions below).
- Obtain documentation of your immunization history from your pediatrician, general practitioner, prior school or military service. Immunizations requirements can be found here: https://www.montclair.edu/university-health-center/immunizations/
- Register with the My Health Portal using your Montclair State University CWID number (available on your acceptance letter, do not enter the “M” initial.)
- Once registration is complete you will receive an email to set up your portal password. Please note that the password link located in the email expires in 20 minutes. This email will be located in your Montclair State email account gmail.montclair.edu (your email is netid@montclair.edu and the password is your net id password).
- Scan and upload your immunization documentation (from Step 1) using the Document Upload tab on the top menu bar. Recommended scanning app for use via smartphones is OfficeLens and Evernote Scannable. Scanned documentation is required to verify and/or correct the dates entered on the forms.
- Select “My Forms” from the top menu bar. Complete the all three (3) items:
- Immunization History
- Health History
- Meningitis Survey forms
Remember to choose “Submit” after each form.
NOTE: Complete the Consent for Minors form only if you will be under 17 at time of enrollment.
Your submission process is complete when:
- The portal forms have been completed and submitted and
- Your immunization documentation has been uploaded into the portal
Your records will be queued for review by the Immunization Coordinator. This review for compliance takes 3 business days.
Please note that residential students need to provide a vaccination verification for meningitis as well (see form).
- Inform Patti Grunther HOW you will you be traveling to campus (commuting using your own car or by public transportation)? Commuters will need to purchase a parking permit ($25,00). For obtaining a such please see Transportation.
- Upload a photo for your University ID card (residential students only)
The application to upload photos and manage your ID card and Flex, Red Hawk Dollars is called eAccounts. The link to upload photos is:

or off montclair.edu, select “Menu”, select “eAccounts”. Log in with your netID and password, select “Profile”, and “click to submit a new photo”. Please also see our Online Photo Submission Instructions.

Cards will be printed and ready for you at your arrival/check-in. Please bring both a photo ID (driver’s license, school ID, passport) and a second form of ID to confirm your identity.
Class starts promply at 9:00 am on Monday, Monday, July 8th and we ask that you be careful about planning your arrival on campus, taking into consideration traffic, parking, etc. so as to leave yourself ample time. It is preferable to arrive early on the first day and you can always check out Cafè Diem for some coffee to kill time untill class starts.
Our classroom is located in Conrad Schmitt Hall and the room number is CS 110. You will note that Schmitt Hall is near the very center of the campus, next to the Student Center Lawn. It is also close to Sprague Library which is where the campus cafè, called Cafè Diem, is located. Please download the Campus Map.
Your instructor Roberta Scortechini will be sending you a welcome email with an attached syllabus about a week prior to the start of the course.

Lunch speakers and afternoon activities
“Prendiamoci un caffè insieme” – Lunch talks and afternoon activities range from the history of Italian landscaping to coffee tastings. Among others, students will meet architects, art historians, designers and pizzaiolos and learn about their very individual field of expertise in the realm of Italian and Italian American culture. Lunch talks are a mandatory part of the course and require attendance. Afternoon activities are primarily targeted to our residential students, however, will be open for commuting students on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Public transportation: Information about public transportation can be found here. MSU is very well served by both buses and trains and some students in the past have found using them preferable to fight morning traffic.
- Commuters: If you are going to commute by car, you will need to purchase a parking permit ($25,00). You need to use your Net ID to do this, so have it handy when you go to the link. Please download our Campus Parking Map to learn about parking lots for commuting students.
- Shuttle service on campus:
- Route A (Campus Loop) will operate according to the following schedule:
Monday-Friday: 6 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- PWD Service will operate, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m.

9. INFORMATION FOR RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS

Residential students will be housed in The Heights residence halls complex, along with an Activity Leaser who will be living on the same floor. The complex hosts a study room, a community kitchen and common rooms equipped with pool tables, etc. For room layouts and amenities please consult the link above.
Check in will be on Sunday, July 7th 5-7pm / check out: Thursday, July 25 by 6pm
Please note that rooms need to be vacated every Thursday by 6pm. Students may return on Sunday the 14th (approx. 5-7pm) and are required to vacate their rooms by the following Thursday afternoon and so on until the closing day of the course on July 25th. The dining hall Sam’s Place is adjacent to the building.
University ID cards will be received at arrival. Please make sure to follow the steps on the Pre-Arrival Check List so that we can have your cards ready for you in time. Please bring both a photo ID (driver’s license, school ID, passport) and a second form of ID to confirm your identity. These ID cards are used for access to the building AND your rooms. Also, they will include your meal plan so please make sure to have your ID cards with you at all times.
Room are double occupancy. Please bring your bedding (twin beds, extra long). Linen may also be purchased for $15,00 and include a pillow, pillowcase, fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, body towel, hand towel, and face cloth. Linen need to be pre-ordered.
The Heights policy: Quiet hours are 10pm through 9am. Please note that candles, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and vaporizers are strictly prohibited. An introduction session, hosted by the Activity Leader and a Residence Life staff will be hosted the first night upon arrival.
