The April visit on campus by acclaimed Algerian-Italian writer Amara Lakhous has produced a video, an article and an interview about studying Italian (see below). Lakhous, whose award-winning books on the clashes and encounters prompted by global migration have been published in several languages, spoke to over 200 people in the course of three talks about his experiences with cultural and literary translation in his novels, including his 2006 bestseller Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio. For the April 13 conversation titled Migrating Words, he was joined by Michael Reynolds (Europa Editions) and Ann Goldstein (The New Yorker).
