Organized by the Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies (Department of Spanish and Italian) and ACP, and moderated by Dr. Teresa Fiore (Inserra Chair), the conversation titled Dancing a Film included the screening of clips from Visconti’s 1960 classic along with live demonstrations of scenes from ROCCO (presented by Peak Performances at the Kasser Theater) with ICKamsterdam dancers. It addressed such topics as: are boxing and dancing metaphors for life? In what sense do migrations produce a sense of displacement for the mind, body, and skin? How does the cross-pollination between dance and film provide a form to such displacement?
