Muse to designers and fashion enthusiasts, fashion icon and collector of garments from all eras and styles, Anna Piaggi lived through 50 years of international fashion history, influencing and dictating trends, as well as searching and drawing inspiration from a plethora of fields: art and design, cooking and cinema, theater and botany. Learn about the extraordinary career of journalist (Vanity, Vogue), fashion writer, and translator Anna Piaggi. Join us for a lecture by Stefano Piaggi (President of the Piaggi Foundation), titled Anna Piaggi: Creativity and Passion In and Beyond Fashion (Wed. Oct. 9 SCM 1040 6:30-8:30PM) featuring clips from Alina Marazzi’s documentary Anna Piaggi: una visionaria della moda.
Co-presented by the Fashion Studies Program and the Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies in collaboration with the Italian Program, the event will include introductory and closing remarks by Dr. Abby Liellethun(Chair Art and Design, CART) and Dr. Teresa Fiore (Inserra Chair, MLL Dept., CHSS).
