On April 18, 2017, Teresa Fiore, Inserra Endowed Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies and Associate Professor of Italian, gave an invited lecture at Villanova University titled "New Italians in the U.S."

The lecture was linked to her current research on recent immigration flows from Italy to the U.S., which is also the subject of two articles of hers that are forthcoming in AY 2017-18 in edited collections published by Routledge and the University of Illinois Press respectively.

Fiore’s long-term scholarship focuses, among others, on issues of migration from Italy. Besides regularly publishing and giving lectures and presentations on these issues, Fiore teaches courses on this topic on our campus, including the GenEd course ITAL262 Italian Americans in Film, which looks at the long trajectory of Italian immigration in this country since the late 1800s.
