Italy and the Euro-Mediterranean Migrant Crisis (04/26-27)
A Two-Day Program presented jointly by Columbia and MSU
Posted in: Inserra, Italian News and Events
As the media coverage and public debate continue to focus on the Euro-Mediterranean migrant crisis at large, what is the perspective of Italy on the subject given that the country is one of the chief landing points for migrants in the Mediterranean? A two-day event jointly presented at Columbia University and Montclair State University engages with this question.
A panel of presentations by scholars Nando Sigona, Giuseppe Campesi, Enrica Rigo, and Teresa Fiore (Wed. April 26 6-8pm, Columbia U), and the screening of the film Come il peso dell’acqua followed by a Q&A with director Andrea Segre (Thur. April 27 6:30-8:30pm, Montclair S U) aim at offering a fruitful reflection on a national case that sheds light on the entire Mediterranean scenario and its effects on the supranational stability of the E.U.
