Inserra Chair Receives Dean’s Award for Service (Spring 2015)

At the annual ceremony held on April 15th in the College of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Teresa Fiore (Inserra Endowed Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies) received the 2015 Dean’s Award for Service. Housed in the Department of Spanish and Italian, the Inserra Chair presents a wide variety of interdisciplinary public programs and spearheads educational initiatives related to Italian language and culture. This year’s activities were deemed by the CHSS selection committee to be a special contribution to the enrichment of the humanities on campus, as well as of impact to the off-campus community, also thanks to the media coverage they receive.

“It is an honor to receive this award after four years of work on this campus” – Fiore remarked in her comments. “I am grateful to the Dean and his office, the Department of Spanish and Italian, the award selection committee, and all the colleagues at Montclair State University with whom I have had the pleasure to collaborate on cultural and educational projects since I was offered this endowed position. Italian Studies at Montclair State University has represented and will continue to represent an occasion to work collaboratively across colleges for me, as I believe that it is in interdisciplinary dialogues that the future of the humanities lies in response to the current challenges.”
