SUMMER 2014

1. Affiliation with the CEMS at NYU as Visiting Fellow with the CEMS at NYU as Visiting Fellow

For the fifth consecutive year, the Center for European and Mediterranean Studies at New York University has selected Dr. Fiore as a Visiting Fellow. From Sept. 2014 to Aug. 2015 she will carry out her research projects on migration from/to Italy with the assistance of the NYU library resources and services and as part of an interdisciplinary group of scholars.

2. Meeting with President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies

On May 23, 2014, Teresa Fiore participated in a meeting with the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini, at the Consulate of Italy in New York devoted to the work of “new Italians” in NYC. 3.  Presentation on Oriana Fallaci’s Journalism and Fiction at the Italian Cultural Institute 

On October 23, 2014 Dr. Fiore presented the paper “Gender, Islam, and Migration in Oriana Fallaci’s Writings” at a panel entitled “Italian Women Writers between Journalism and Literature” and organized by the Italian Cultural Institute, NYC on the occasion of the annual Italian Language Week activities.

3. Article on Business Italian Style: A Videojournalism Project at MSU

Dr. Fiore wrote an article to illustrate an experimental project spearheaded and sponsored by the Inserra Chair to offer pre-professional opportunities to students of Italian at Montclair State University: designed in collaboration with the Italian digital newspaper La Voce di New York and the videography company Art Motion Picture based in Italy and NJ, it includes video interviews and articles with/about Italian businessmen and women active in NYC/NJ conducted by students in ITAL321 Business Italian. Italy and NJ, it includes video-interviews and articles with/about Italian businessmen and women active in NYC/NJ conducted by students in ITAL321 Business Italian.
