Posted in: Inserra, Italian News and Events
NJ Premiere Tuesday, February 18th (7pm-9pm)
Leshowitz Recital Hall, John J. Cali School of Music
Free and open to the public
A play-concert written by Marco Martinelli and performed by Alessandro Renda from Teatro delle Albe (winner of 14 Ubu Prizes, the Italian “Oscars” for theatre), with Enzo and Lorenzo Mancuso. Presented in Italian with English supertitles.
An intense monologue that transfigures into grotesque and melancholic poetry the tragic account of migrants adrift in the Mediterranean, Noise in the Waters develops through the figure of a demonic and sarcastic general who counts the dead while the mesmerizing voices of Sicilian singers evoke the spirits of the lost at sea.
“Shakes you to the depths.” (L’Unità newspaper)
“A memorable show that should absolutely not be missed.” (Corriere delle Sera newspaper)
