Montclair Professors featured on popular podcast “Conspiracy, She Wrote”

Dr. Daniela Peterka-Benton, Director of the Global Center on Human Trafficking, and Dr. Bond Benton, Area Head for Strategic Communication in School of Communication and Media, were recently featured on Cristen Conger’s podcast “Conspiracy, She Wrote.” This podcast series looks at conspiracy theories and their effects on women with its latest episodes focusing on the “trafficking/groomer panic.” As Peterka-Benton and Benton have extensively researched conspiracy and misinformation related to human trafficking, the episode served as 35-minute exploration of their published academic research.
“Conspiracy, She Wrote” recently won a 2024 Signal Award with Conger named as “Best Host – Current Events.” The Signals serve as the “Emmys of Podcasting,” with a focus on “recognizing the podcasts that define culture.” Signal award partners include HBO Max, Common Sense Media, and The Wonder Media Network. The show is part of Unladylike Media, which is widely followed with its focus on women’s voices in current events. Unladylike’s broadcasts on the Sirius XM platform won a Webby Award in 2022, a highly prestigious international award honoring excellence on the Internet.
