Four-day Summer Work Schedule

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to report that the four-day 2021 summer work week schedule will start the week of Monday, June 7, 2021 and end the week of Monday, August 9, 2021. Eligible employees will work 8.75 hours per day Monday through Thursday and have Fridays off, except for weeks with official holidays, when normal schedules will apply.
During summer hours, supervisors and 35-hour per work week employees will mutually agree to work either 7:30 am – 5 pm, or 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., schedules during the four-day summer work schedule. During the two holiday weeks, office hours will be 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Juneteenth Holiday Week
In 2020, Governor Murphy signed legislation designating Juneteenth as a State and public holiday in New Jersey and directing that it be observed on the third Friday in June. Employees will work 7 hours per day from Monday, June 14 to Thursday, June 17. The University will be closed on Friday, June 18 and employees will take the day off as a paid holiday. Summer hours will resume on Monday, June 21.
Fourth of July Holiday Week
Because the Fourth of July falls on a Sunday this year, the University will be closed on Monday, July 5 and employees will take the day off as a paid holiday. Employees will work 7 hours per day from Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, July 9. Summer hours will resume on Monday, July 12.
Who is Eligible?
The Summer Work Week Schedule is for 35-hour per week AFT librarians and professional staff, 35-hour per week CWA member employees and managers. If you have questions regarding your eligibility, please contact your supervisor.
