An employee who is absent from work due to the death of an immediate family will receive one bereavement day as negotiated by the union contract and may utilize a maximum of 4 sick days.
An immediate family member is defined as a parent, grandparent, parent-in-law, spouse, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, sibling, aunt or uncle.
The employee must provide a copy of one of the following: funeral/memorial program, obituary, etc. via a time off request in Workday for supervisor’s approval.
Each year thereafter the one bereavement day will be available on January 1st. The day does not accumulate and unused time will not be carried over or paid out upon separation.
