Honors EDGE students take a minimum of 8 honors courses during their time at Montclair State University. All courses in the program will build your skills in creative thinking. Four are required at the core: Community Matters, Transformations, Creativity and Capstone. All of the required courses, excluding Capstone, satisfy SEEDS Categories or General Education Requirements.
During your first year, you will take two of your four required courses: Community Matters (HONP 107) and Transformations (HONP 108). Along with your Community Matters course, you will take an honors-specific section of WRIT 105 to satisfy your College Writing requirement during your first semester. After your first year, you will select and take a minimum of four more single-semester honors electives and your remaining two core courses, Creativity (HONP 106) and Capstone (HONP 490). You may also apply to substitute experiential learning opportunities for elective credit after your first year.
Throughout your experience, Honors EDGE emphasizes interdisciplinary studies in the belief that new insights and understanding are gained outside artificial boundaries imposed by discrete subject areas. This approach creates a climate that fosters creativity and original thinking.
