Educational Assessment (Certificate) Online
The purpose of this program is to provide aspiring and practicing educators, educational leaders and others invested in schools with the practical knowledge and skills needed to engage in valid and ethical assessment practices that guide decision making to inform teaching practices and school/district policies.
Given the recent changes in educational policy at the national level (e.g., NCLB; Race to the Top), schools and districts need to provide ongoing evidence of student learning and achievement. This means that all members of school/district communities need to become versed in a variety of assessment activities, multiple methods for interpreting and summarizing data, and constructing sound educational policy and practices that are supported by the local evidence provided in schools. This certificate program is the first and only in New Jersey that is specifically designed to prepare educators for using assessment data to inform instruction.
Please refer to our programs of study page for a comprehensive list of all of the graduate programs offered within the university.
*Students seeking an F1/J1 visa are not eligible for this certificate program unless they are currently pursuing a master’s degree at Montclair State University and are able to simultaneously pursue both programs while maintaining their student visa requirements.
The Office of Graduate Admissions requires the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree in order to be eligible to apply for a graduate program. Applicants with non-U.S. degrees, please visit the International Applicants page to review the U.S. degree equivalency information.
