Biology (Combined Bachelor’s / Master of Arts in Teaching)

The Bachelor’s/MAT Dual-Certification Inclusive Education Program provides students with the opportunity to receive both a bachelor’s and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree with teacher certification in both general education and special education. The program is designed to help teachers develop competencies needed to teach students who have disabilities along with those who do not.

In this program, students complete general education and major requirements and an initial set of coursework in education as undergraduates. As graduate students, they will complete the coursework in education and conduct their fieldwork and student teaching.

Scholarships: The S. Marie Kuhnen Scholarship is available to financially assist one full-time undergraduate student enrolled as a Biology major at Montclair State University with an intention to teach. The student should be enrolled in field biology studies.
  • Eligibility: Full-time undergraduate enrolled as a Biology major in the Department of Biology at Montclair State University, in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement; the financial need of a candidate will be a consideration. A recipient may receive a scholarship for a maximum of two years.
  • Amount: One scholarship per year, to be used the following academic year; amount varies based on fund availability.
