The Office of Institutional Research serves as the central source for statistical information about Montclair State University. Its main goal is to provide accurate data in a timely manner to external agencies and to the University community.
Routinely, the office coordinates institutional responses to standard federal and state data requests such as the Federal IPEDS reports and the New Jersey S.U.R.E. tapes. In addition, the office responds to many external questionnaires from higher education organizations and associations as well as certain college directories and publications.
More importantly, the office provides information to the University community about itself so that academic and administrative offices can effectively plan for the future. To achieve this, the IR office works closely with other offices across the campus such as the Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, Human Resources, the Computer Center, etc., ensuring accurate and complete data sources. Information is provided in several key ways: an annual Fact Book; standardized semester reports such as retention and graduation reports; and special topic reports that summarize surveys conducted by the office. The latter are often student-focused surveys.
For those offices and individuals in need of information not readily or routinely available, the IR office is always willing to help get the necessary facts and figures to them.
