About the Program
The OFE, in collaboration with the Office of International Academic Initiatives, recently launched a new program focusing on the development of international faculty at Montclair. The new program’s overarching goal is to support the professional development and advancement of those faculty who have an international academic background and who have, at some point in their careers, found themselves adjusting to the specific challenges of the US higher education.
Ongoing Efforts
The smaller-scale objectives of International Faculty Development program emerged in close conversation with international faculty members. Many faculty have highlighted a strong need for building a community network for international faculty on campus. In response to that request, we have started a listserv, which faculty who self-identify as international are welcome to join.
Another ongoing effort within the International Faculty Development program is data collection. We are trying to learn as much as possible about what international faculty need to maximize their professional development. To engage in this conversation most effectively, we invite all international faculty, seasoned and new, to complete a brief survey telling us what kinds of professional assistance would be, in your opinion, most helpful to you and your peers. Please fill out and share with anyone who may wish to contribute!
Lastly, we are currently putting together a series of get-together Lunch&Learn events. International faculty members who would like to suggest a Lunch&Learn topic for Spring 2025 are welcome to reach out to Vera Senina with their ideas.
