Propose a New Course

OFE CIM-Friendly Curriculum & Course Design Support

The Provost’s Office manages and supports new course proposals through forms and resources and a dedicated Canvas community. Faculty interested in writing new courses typically begin by consulting their department curriculum committee and/or the chair.

To support faculty in drafting new course proposals, OFE has created a series of three documents. These will guide faculty in writing course proposals that meet the University’s requirements, that include the information needed for Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM), and that support not only creating a new course but teaching it.

Purpose

  • To make the course proposal process simple, efficient, and useful
  • To more explicitly connect the theoretical work of proposal writing to the actual work of teaching
  • To develop support for new and adjunct faculty who may teach the course in:
    • teaching courses as proposed
    • delivering clear syllabi and required elements
    • experiencing easier course set-up
