Assessment Practices Series
ITDS is launching an Assessment Practices Series. These monthly online events will focus on a variety of approaches to assess student learning. How do we know if students are achieving our courses’ learning goals? What assessment practices and technologies are most effective to support student learning? This series will include workshops, presentations and shared best practices from the University community. Upcoming events include the following topics:
-
November, 2021: Demystifying the Canvas Gradebook
- December, 2021: Differentiated Assessments in Canvas
- February, 2022: Promoting Academic Integrity
- March, 2022: Learning Outcomes and Rubrics
- April, 2022: Formative Assessments and Feedback
Our first event, Demystifying the Canvas Gradebook, will share best practices to effectively structure your assignments and gradebook in Canvas. We will present the gradebook from a student’s point of view, while sharing how your choices impact the student experience. Learn how to automatically weight assignments using assignment groups, hide/unhide grades from students, set grading policies and much more.
Date/time: Wednesday, November 3, 2021, 10:00am – 12:00pm
The agenda for this online event is as follows:
-
10:00-11:30 – Canvas gradebook best practices workshop and Q & A
- 11:30-12:00 – Consult with ITDS staff on any gradebook or assessment related questions.
