FMEM Employees Say Goodbye to Summer and Welcome Fall with Appreciation Cookout
Posted in: Facilities Staff News & Events, Facilities Updates
The Facilities Maintenance and Energy Management (FMEM) department hosted a lunchtime cookout at the Maintenance Building on Thursday, August 21, 2014. The cookout, which featured hot dogs with all the fixings, was conceived as a gesture of appreciation to the 240-plus hardworking men and women who comprise the full-time, part-time and student staff within the Access Control, Carpentry, Electric, Energy Management, Grounds, Housekeeping, HVAC, Move and Waste Management, Painting, Plumbing, Repair and Work Control units, all of whom endeavored through full work weeks over the summer to prepare the campus for Opening Day and the Fall semester.
In addition to the routine work over the last two months preparing MSU’s academic, administrative and residence spaces for full occupation in September, our Maintenance employees were instrumental in the completion of numerous projects including:
- Cleaning and securing the newly-renovated Morehead Hall for its new occupants in the School of Communications
- Installation of the University’s new carillon in College Hall
- Performing air conditioning and electrical upgrades in the Student Center
- Performing HVAC improvements at the Village at Little Falls
- Landscape improvements at the Student Center and Science Hall
- Campus-wide paint, patch and repair work
Associate Vice President for University Facilities, Shawn Connolly and Vice President for University Facilities, Gregory Bressler, along with FMEM managerial and administrative staff, served as “hosts” at this event, dishing out hot dogs, chips and drinks, and otherwise ensuring that all employees were comfortable and well fed.
The Division of University Facilities joins the rest of the MSU community in welcoming our students and faculty back to campus for a productive academic year. Go Red Hawks!
